Inadequate housing is a problem that affects almost every city in America. Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley is working hard to eradicate the issue in the areas it serves. Inland Valley residents are invited to learn more about the local affiliate's efforts to end homelessness by attending a fun and interactive event followed by a screening of ''I Am'', directed by Tom Shadyac. ''I Am'' is a prismatic and probing exploration of our world, what's wrong with it, and what we can do to make it better. The documentary represents Tom Shadyac's first attempt at non-fiction following a career as one of Hollywood's leading comedic directors, with successful titles as "Ace Ventura," "Liar Liar," and "Bruce Almighty". ''I Am'' recounts what happened to the filmmaker after a cycling accident left him incapacitated. Though he ultimately recovered, he emerged a changed man. Disillusioned with life on the A-list, he sold his house, moved to a mobile home community, and decided to start a new life. The filmed will be screened immediately after a short reception covering the issues that face homeowners in the Inland Valley and advice on how residents can get involved with the organization.
