About Us

The Mission of Community Outreach Ministry (COM) is meeting a big need in children of incarcerated parents helping to break the cycle of poverty, illiteracy, drugs, crime, gangs, incarceration and self-destruction. Everyday these youngsters live with adverse childhood experiences (ACE) trauma, shame and stigma. They may be homelessness, living in cramped conditions and fending for themselves. They have lost their parent(s) to crime and addiction.

COM offers "Gearing Up For STEM" Mentor Protege Workshops for youth 8-18 years of age in Elementary, Jr. and Sr. High School. Students build robots using science kits in small groups of 3-4 mentees with a mentor improving basic assembly skills sets, dexterity, and enhancing critical thinking and problem solving skills in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

COM raises camp scholarships to give kids ages 8-18 a week away from home to have clean fun in a safe place with mentors to engage in educational sportsmanship, teaming activities and acquire a "can-do spirit." Campers learn they are gifted, valued and reshaped with destiny to do better in school, home and community.

COM adopts children ages 0 - 18 whose parents are incarcerated to receive clothes and toys at the Annual Angel Tree Christmas Party. Youngsters learn safety education from U. S. Forest Service firefighters and California Highway Patrol officers. Youth play financial literacy games and win prizes for working together in teams to arrive at the correct answers.

COM thrives on empowering kids with a second chance to be winners and champions!
