Canines Meet Kids at Annual Law Enforcement Event
By Lynn K. Loyd
Over the decades Community Outreach Ministry Co-Founders, Dr. Mona and Bob Davies have been commended by local legislators for their dedication to helping at-risk children to break the cycle of incarceration. For years the Davies have been supporting the Murrieta Police Department K-9 Trials and Paws 4 Law Foundation as a vendor fingerprinting children in their Child Safety ID Kits. These Child Safety ID Kits help law enforcement find children if they ever go missing.
A shout out to Desare Ferraro District Representative and  Assemblywoman Kate Sanchez (D-71), for providing the children with coloring and activity books focused on crime prevention. Thank you, Coach Cynthia Duran of Sewing Stories for donating arts and crafts supplies for the children to create their one-of-a-kind prayer flags. For a recap of the K-9 Trials event, please visit: https://vimeo.com/915995018.
Here are a couple of stories that families shared with us at the February 17, 2024, K-9 Trials.

By Oscar and Bris Rodriguez and their daughters Daniella and Genesis, Murrieta. “Now a days, it is good and safe for fingerprinting the kids. Our kids love doing crafts as it is entertaining and better than having their heads down in electronics. We go online in Facebook to learn about local events especially for kids as it is educational and gets them out of the house and have fun. Our youngest daughter Daniella from the age of three years old has always wanted to be a Police Officer. Genesis our oldest daughter wants to be a schoolteacher. The girls already have their career goals. They take after their dad who had his heart set on being in Law Enforcement. Oscar is doing what he loves serving as an Officer. Thank you for fingerprinting our girls and for the arts and crafts to create their flags.”

Jeanne Prewitt shared, “my grandchildren Hudson and Hazel are very interested in law enforcement so I thought they would enjoy seeing how the police dogs are trained. It was a great day. We were lucky to meet Mona the founder of Community Outreach Ministry and I was able to fingerprint my grandkids to keep with their Child Safety ID kit. They also had a flag making craft for the kids that the kids were excited to show mom and dad. Thank you, Community Outreach Ministry for helping to build strong families.”
