San Diego Blood Bank Announces Location of Valley Blood Services Donor Center Opening This Summer in Murrieta
The San Diego Blood Bank today announces the location of its newest donor center in Murrieta, which will exclusively serve the people of Southwest County. Valley Blood Services, slated to open this summer, will be located in the Murrieta Spectrum Center at 25115 Madison Avenue, Ste. 105. As the primary supplier of blood to Rancho Springs and Inland Valley Medical Centers, the San Diego Blood Bank currently provides approximately 5,700 units of blood annually to patients in Southwest County. ''Valley Blood Services will give residents a more convenient way to donate blood for local hospital patients,'' said San Diego Blood Bank Chief Executive Officer Ramona Walker. ''The people of this region have already proven to be dedicated blood donors. A community blood center will allow them to become self-sufficient.'' In addition to providing a venue for volunteer blood donation, Valley Blood Services will also collect blood that can be specifically designated to friends and family members needing transfusions, and for patients who may need blood for their own surgeries. Currently, residents of the area must drive to San Diego for those types of procedures. A marketing and fundraising campaign is still being conducted to help raise the remaining funds necessary for this new donor center, as well as to identify volunteers.
