Valley Blood Services Blood Drive
MURRIETA RESIDENT IS FOCUS OF BLOOD DRIVES AT CHICK-FIL-A AND MENIFEE VALLEY MIDDLE SCHOOL Murrieta resident Daniel Lubach, who was recently diagnosed with Goodpasture Syndrome, is the focus of two upcoming local blood drives. The first will be held at Chick-Fil-A, 24794 Madison Ave., Murrieta Hot Springs, Friday, February 16, from 10 am to 3 pm, and the second will be hosted by Menifee Valley Middle School, 26255 Garbani Rd., Menifee, Wednesday, February 28, from 2 pm to 7pm. Both blood drives will be held in the parking lots of each location. Daniel requires transfusions during regular therapeutic treatments that involve removing his diseased blood plasma and replacing it with healthy donated plasma. To date Daniel has received more than 100 transfusions. Donors at these drives should recognize Daniel's patient code, DL03. Blood donors will not only help patients like Daniel, but will also have the opportunity to join the San Diego Blood Bank's new Donor Difference program, which includes access to an online store and the ability to track cholesterol, pulse, and blood pressure after each donation. Anyone between the ages of 18 and 60, who is in good health, may be eligible to join the National Marrow Donor Program registry. Additionally marrow donors must be within 20% of their ideal weight for height and age, and willing to be a marrow donor for anyone who needs a transplant. Blood donors must be over age 17, in good health and weigh more than 110 lbs. A good meal and plenty of fluids are recommended prior to blood donation.
