EVMWD SECURES $102 MILLION IN GRANT FUNDING,
CONTINUES STREAK OF SUCCESS
GRANT FUNDING TO COVER COSTS FOR ESSENTIAL SEWER UPGRADES IN DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES

Lake Elsinore, CA — The Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District (EVMWD) is proud to announce that it has secured a total of $102 million in grant funding to support its critical Septic-to-Sewer Conversion Projects in the disadvantaged communities of Sedco Hills and the Avenues. The State Water Resources Control Board awarded this funding to fully cover the installation costs of essential infrastructure improvements in disadvantaged communities, directly benefiting thousands of residents in the region.

EVMWD has pursued funding for these projects for over a decade, facing multiple setbacks and challenges. Despite these hurdles, the district’s relentless efforts have finally paid off, securing the key funding needed to move forward. The grant funding, which includes $23 million for the Avenues project and $79 million for the Sedco Hills project, will enable EVMWD to continue its efforts to enhance public health, protect the environment, and increase property values within these communities. The work is set to be completed by December 2026.

EVMWD Board President Chance Edmonson expressed his enthusiasm about the funding, stating, “This grant is a significant victory for our community. It allows us to address longstanding infrastructure needs without burdening our residents with the high costs typically associated with such projects. Our commitment to securing these funds reflects our ongoing dedication to finding innovative ways to serve our community and protect our environment.”

The Septic-to-Sewer Conversion Projects will transition homes from septic systems to more efficient and environmentally friendly sewer systems, providing numerous benefits such as reduced water pollution, improved general health, and costly septic system maintenance elimination.

EVMWD’s continuous pursuit of grant opportunities underscores the district’s commitment to saving ratepayers money and ensuring that critical projects receive the necessary funding. By securing these grants, EVMWD can deliver essential services and maintain the high standards
that the community expects. Funding for this project has been provided in full or in part through an agreement with the State Water Resources Control Board.
